Sneak Peak - Stunning Tile in Master Bathroom Remodel

We are finishing up a stunning kitchen and bathroom remodel and I just can't get enough of this beautiful Walker Zanger tile, so I had to post a few sneak peak photos.  This is an elegant water jet cut marble and porcelain tile that we used in the niches and floor.  We installed a curbless shower with a linear drain to extend this beautiful tile into the shower.  The bench seat is a stunning piece of Calacatta marble we hand selected.  More photos will follow once we finish up.

The Deeper Meaning of Remodeling - Real Life Images

We feel so blessed - we not only get to design and build beautiful spaces for our clients, we also get to build amazing relationships.  We love our job!  We love to see beautiful lighting that makes a family feel warm and comfortable in the evening, an island that everyone gathers around to share meals, ideas, and stories, a deck that lights up at night that allows families and friends to gather outdoors while still feeling warm and comfortable, and so many small and large details that go into making a family feel safe, warm, comfortable, and inspired by their home.  Here we share a few images from our new series "Real Life Remodel".

Party Central - What an island, what a spread.  Our client's birthday bash.

Dance party deck!  Our client's birthday bash.

Another birthday bash...construction is almost over, but not quite.  Parties are messy...so is life at times.  Thank goodness for big islands and great lighting!

Nature Inspired Master Suite Renovation

This is a master bathroom suite we renovated in the Santa Cruz redwoods.  This stunning remodel includes a custom cast concrete countertop, heated concrete tub, water jet cut tiles into a wave tile accent, and a unique, custom olive wood vanity.  The bathroom is a luxury retreat with an amazing view of the redwoods through the walnut folding window.

Our New Showroom & Design Studio

We recently decided to move out of the home office, rent a space downtown in the Santa Cruz Arts Center and change our name.  We continue to be the same construction company focusing on designing and remodeling beautiful spaces, but we wanted to expand our reach.  Here is a sneak peak of our newly remodeled space along with my office helpers.  We are loving the new design + build + remodel showroom and design studio.  Come visit us at the Arts Center, check out the other amazing businesses here, and grab some great food and drink at the Santa Cruz Food Lounge.

Our redwood slab conference table was donated by a generous client - it was a fallen redwood tree that fell during her remodel project.  For the full story, see "Dreaming of Redwoods - Custom Crafted Platform Bed".

Dreaming of Redwoods - Custom Crafted Platform Bed

We recently completed this stunning bed for one of our amazing clients in the Santa Cruz Mountains.  A redwood tree fell in their backyard during their kitchen remodel.  We cut the tree into slabs, kiln dried the wood, and magically crafted this stunning bed with the help our of custom woodworker, Andy Orsini.  For a link the process, see our previous blog post, "A Tree's Journey - Crafting a Custom Bed".

Countertop Edge Details - Which Is Right for Your Space?

Choosing a new countertop edge profile is a little like learning a new language.  We posted a Houzz article below that breaks down some of the "lingo" and offers some examples of different countertop edge details and how this impacts your design and style.  We have also included our Houzz ideabook with additional sample edge details.

Amazing New Product - "Shou-sugi-ban" Tile from Ann Sacks

I have always been a huge fan of the Japanese burnt wood process called shou-sugi-ban or yakisugi.  It has that amazing simplicity and wabi sabi feel of being weathered, yet timeless - modern or rustic. Ann Sacks has introduced an amazing new tile to their product line that mimics the Japanese shou-sugi-ban process.  It is stunning.

How would this look in your home? Add a whole new level of sophistication and beauty to your bathroom, backsplash, fireplace or some other space in your home!

A Tree's Journey - Crafting a Custom Bed

While working on our clients' bathroom remodel last year, a redwood tree fell in their backyard.  Here is the beginning of the journey to creating a beautiful redwood bed and chairs.  We coordinated having the tree moved to Boulder Creek where it was cut into slabs.  We then cut the redwood slabs to the proper sizing and sent them off to Jackel Enterprises to kiln dry them.  Here is the beginning of the tree's journey.  Stay tuned for more.
